Two Arrested for Organized Retail Theft at Target Over the Weekend Leads to Host of Additional Charges
Two females admitted to stealing over $1600 from Target to sell at a San Francisco flea market to make a profit.
San Mateo, CA – On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 9:25pm, San Mateo Police officers were dispatched to the San Mateo Bridgepointe Target location as Loss Prevention was reporting two subjects concealing items in the store. Upon arrival, officers witnessed the subjects conceal items on surveillance cameras. After watching the females legally pay for only two items that weren’t concealed, the ladies exited the store and were detained. Upon searching one of the subjects, Tammy Boston, a driver’s license belonging to another individual was found on her person, as was a debit card. The other female, who was identified as Marquilla Coleman Williams, had her three-year-old daughter with her as they committed the theft. Family eventually came and retrieved the child.
It was determined Boston had stolen $918.40 worth of merchandise, while Coleman Williams stole $778.57. A records check showed Coleman Williams was on probation for theft. A search of her vehicle was conducted as part of her probation clause and drug paraphernalia and illegal pepper spray (more than 2.5 ounces) were located. After being arrested, Coleman Williams refused lawful commands and became extremely agitated and began to harm herself and ultimately attacked a Paramedic. Pregnant, it was determined Coleman Williams would need to be medically cleared, and once she was the following day, she was transported to county jail, where she was booked. Boston had been transported and booked into county jail the day of the incident.
