Wilmington Police are investigating a shooting incident, with an arrest made at the scene.
On September 9, at approximately 3:55 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2600 block of North Monroe Street, in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Upon arrival, police located a 37-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Police at the scene also made contact with a 38-year-old Jeremy Hawkins, who was taken into custody without incident, and recovered a loaded handgun.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division. Following a brief investigation, Detective Wham identified Jeremy Hawkins as the suspect in the shooting incident, and obtained warrants for his arrest.
Hawkins has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $120,000 cash-only bail.
