Two Suspects Arrested After Deputies Located Them with Burglary Tools in Evacuated Areas

INCIDENT: Penal Code 182(a)(1)-Conspiracy to Commit Residential Burglary
LOCATION: 30000 Block od Knoll View Drive, Running Springs
SUSPECT 1: Thomas Francis Leslie, 38-years-old, Resident of Running Springs
SUSPECT 2: Jason Edward Rogerson, 51-years-old, Resident of Lake Arrowhead
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Saturday, September 7, 2024, Running Springs and Arrowbear Lake communities were placed on an evacuation order due to the Line Fire. Because of the evacuation order, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department supplemented the Twin Peaks Station with additional resources.
On Sunday, September 8, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Station responded to a call for service in the 30000 block of Knoll View Drive in the Running Springs community, related to suspicious subjects casing several residences. Deputies contacted Thomas Leslie and Jason Rogerson whose clothing matched subjects seen on video surveillance, casing numerous homes in the area. Deputies detained Leslie and Rogerson to investigate and found they possessed burglary tools.
Leslie and Rogerson were arrested, transported, and booked at Central Detention Center under charges of California Penal Code 182 (a) (1) Conspiracy to Commit Residential Burglary.
Deputies, along with members of the National Guard, are in evacuated areas to protect property and homes from burglary.
