Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On September 9, at approximately 8:23 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard for an equipment violation. Police made contact with the driver – 26-year-old Ashshahiyd Perkins, who was taken into custody without incident. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
Perkins has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Destructive Weapon – Firearm Silencer
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was released on $17,500 unsecured bail.
