On 9-7-2024, at approximately 4:00 PM, deputies with the Central County Patrol Services responded to the 200 Block of Glenn Drive, in Camarillo, in reference to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies located a firearm and evidence confirming a shooting had taken place. During the investigation, deputies determined Angel Barajas brandished a firearm at two victims during a verbal altercation. Several family members of the victim physically intervened, attempting to prevent Barajas from firing the handgun at the victim. Ultimately, Barajas fired the handgun, striking himself in the lower torso. Barajas was located shortly after the incident at a local hospital. Barajas was admitted for injuries sustained during the altercation. On 9-8-2024, detectives obtained a signed search warrant for Barajas’ residence. At approximately 0100 hours, detectives served the search warrant at Barajas’ residence in Camarillo and located evidence confirming Barajas illegally possessed the firearm used in the assault. On 9-10-2024, upon Barajas’ discharge from a local hospital, he was arrested for violations of California Penal Codes 245(b) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 417(b) – Brandishing a Deadly Weapon, and 27545 – Unlawful Firearm Transfer.
