Police Seek Help Identifying Business Burglary Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé requests the public’s help identifying the suspect pictured below in connection with a business burglary that occurred on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
At approximately 3:23 a.m., a male suspect arrived at Dunkin Donuts, in the 800 block of Franklin Avenue, riding an electric scooter. The suspect approached a third entrance door where he used an object to break into the store. Once inside, the suspect also used an object to break into an office where he stole approximately $3,500.00 in cash before fleeing on the electronic scooter heading northbound on North 6th Street. The suspect later entered Stephen Crane Village, where he entered the below-pictured vehicle.
The suspect is described as a Black male wearing all-black clothing and a black face mask. He was also wearing orange and black gloves and black sneakers.
Detectives investigating this incident observed video surveillance footage showing a white Kia sitting in the parking lot during the burglary and leaving shortly after the burglary suspect fled.
