Bridge Fire Update - September 11, 2024 3:00 pm
Dear Residents of Sierra Madre;
We are providing an update on the Bridge Fire burning in the Angeles National Forest above Glendora and Azusa.
As of this morning, the fire has burned nearly 48,000 acres and is moving toward Wrightwood. Air quality across the Southland continues to be affected, and the AQMD has issued Smoke Advisories in our area. Please stay indoors and limit outdoor activities unless absolutely necessary.
Due to ongoing fire activity, Los Angeles County has issued a Wireless Emergency Alert for areas above Duarte, Monrovia, Bradbury, Azusa, Sierra Madre and Arcadia. This alert was intended to warn those in wilderness areas. However, some residents in these cities, including Sierra Madre, received the message. Please note that this is an evacuation warning for wilderness areas only and does not affect Sierra Madre residents. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
There is currently no threat to Sierra Madre. We hope that with cooler weather resources will soon gain the upper-hand on the fire. For more information, download the 'Watchduty' app or visit the Cal Fire website at fire.ca.gov. Stay safe, and thank you.

No immediate action is required. However, this is a good time to prepare for an emergency or disaster.
