The Moorpark Police Department is proud to announce another “Coffee with a Cop” event. Coffee with the Moorpark Police Chief and members of the Moorpark Police Station brings the police department and community members together, over coffee, to discuss issues and learn more about resources, services, and needs of the community. On Tuesday, September 24, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, Moorpark Chief of Police Darin Hendren, along with deputies from the Moorpark Police Station, will be at McDonald’s located at 501 New Los Angeles Ave, in the city of Moorpark, sharing a cup of coffee with neighbors. As an added bonus for this event, the Moorpark Police Department is partnering with the Ventura County Family Justice Center (FJC.) The Ventura County Family Justice Center (FJC) works to improve the lives of those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder and dependent adult abuse, hate crimes, human trafficking and other violent crimes. The FJC provides comprehensive services for victims, survivors and their families, including restraining order assistance, emergency assistance, mental health services, civil legal services, and more. Community trust is one of the key elements to the success of the Moorpark Police Department. By sitting down and having a simple conversation, deputies and the community members they serve, can continue building and growing together. The Moorpark Police Department invites the community to come out and ask questions, voice concerns, get crime prevention advice, and get to know the officers in your neighborhood. This is a relaxed, informal event and is not about speeches or agendas but simply about casual conversation. Moorpark Police Department staff will also have handouts explaining our Volunteer in Policing program and our Explorer program, as well as scam and fraud prevention. For our Spanish-speaking residents, we will have Spanish-speaking Deputies at the event. Members from our Traffic Unit will be there to discuss laws pertaining to electric bikes as well as new legislation restricting parking within 20’ of crosswalks/intersections. The goal of Coffee with a Cop is to get to know the community better and hear about issues the residents feel are important. This community-building event promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie that make our neighborhoods safer all year round by continued police-community partnerships. Building relationships – one cup at a time. |
