Flood Warning until 10:45AM Monday

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Georgia... Flint River at US 19 near Carsonville affecting Crawford, Upson, Taylor and Talbot Counties. Flint River below Big Branch near Molena affecting Pike and Meriwether Counties.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Flint River below Big Branch near Molena.

* WHEN...From Sunday afternoon to late Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 28 feet, Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding of the natural flood plain near the gage location begins. Flooding continues to expand into the agricultural and wooded areas downstream from the gage near the Georgia Highway 74 bridge. Elevated homes in this location will see a foot or two of water underneath them.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM EST Saturday the stage was 21.6 feet and rising. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 28.7 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Monday morning. - Flood stage is 28 feet.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MERIWETHER, GA ... PIKE, GA

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Additional information is available at weather.gov/atlanta. The next statement will be issued this evening at 1100 PM EST.
