Threats Towards School's via Social Media
On 09/11/2024, the Petaluma Police Department became aware of a threat made directed at Casa Grande High School and Petaluma High School, that an act of violence would occur on a Friday afternoon. The Petaluma Police Department became aware of the threat via the STOP IT application.
Shortly after we were notified via STOP IT, the police department’s dispatch center began receiving calls from concerned parents and students regarding a social media post that had already been reported via the STOP IT application to the police department.
Outside of the social media post, there has been no information that leads us to believe that the threat is credible. However, the Petaluma Police Department treats all threats seriously and will be diligently investigating the incident thoroughly. We are currently working with the Petaluma City Schools administration to address any safety concerns and coordinate officer’s presence in the various schools.
The Petaluma Police Department will be providing extra police presence at each of the involved schools as much as possible for the coming days. We encourage anyone who has information on who may be responsible for the threat to contact the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372.
For media inquiries, please contact Lieutenant Z. Rivera at [email protected] or call our non-emergency line at 707-778-4372.
