Water Meter Replacement Project: Saturday, Sept 14
The Prince George County Water Meter Replacement Project is ongoing. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The County has contracted with HST Utility, who will be placing door hangers on properties to inform residents about upcoming work and instructions to flush their interior water lines for 3-5 minutes after the meter replacement. HST Utility aims to complete the replacement of all meters by the end of September.
Saturday Work:
Work will occur on Saturday, September 14 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, for water customers along Prince George Drive, Bull Hill Road, County Drive, W Quaker Road, Oliver Drive, and Bickings Lane. This is to ensure contractor safety by avoiding the high volume of weekday traffic in these areas.
What to Expect During Your Residential Meter Replacement:
1) The installer will knock on your door prior to beginning work and place a door hanger with instructions for flushing the lines after work is complete.
2) The installer will read your current meter.
3) The installer will turn on a hose bib on your house and then immediately shut off water to your home. This ensures no water is running during replacement.
4) The installer will replace the meter and turn on the water to your home. Expect a brief water service interruption of 30-60 minutes on Saturday.
