Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of September 2-8, 2024

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
  
 
Robberies
 
There were three robberies during the past week.
 
On Thursday, 09-05-24, at approximately 7:14 p.m., at Marchbank Park on South Parkview Avenue, a victim met with two suspects to sell a pair of shoes. The victim stated that during the transaction, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him leading to an altercation between the individuals. The suspects, 13 and 14-year-old Daly City residents, were arrested for robbery.
 
On Friday, 09-06-24, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Oriente Street on a report of a robbery. The victim stated as he was walking home, he was approached from behind by two suspects who demanded his personal belongings. During the robbery, one of the suspects lifted the front of his shirt, revealing a gun tucked in his waistband. The suspects took the victim’s iPhone, wallet, shoes, sweatshirt, and backpack. The victim described the first suspect as either a Black or Hispanic male, approximately 16-17 years old, wearing all gray clothing and carrying a black backpack. The second suspect was described as a Black male, approximately 18-19 years old, wearing all black clothing, and carrying the black gun in his waistband. This investigation is continuing.
 
On Saturday, 09-07-24, at approximately 3:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to T-Mobile on Gellert Boulevard on a report of a robbery. An employee stated that the suspect entered the store carrying a can of bear mace and began concealing merchandise in his bag. At some point, the can of bear mace leaked, causing discomfort to several people. The suspect fled in a vehicle, but was later located by officers, who arrested the suspect. The stolen merchandise worth approximately $14,000 was recovered. The suspect, a 34-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for robbery, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, illegal use and possession of tear gas, and other offenses. 
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There was one commercial burglary during the past week.
 
On Tuesday, 09-03-24, at approximately 6:03 p.m., the Home Depot located on the 300 block of Lake Merced Boulevard was burglarized. A suspect entered the store, took a weed wacker and blower worth approximately $550, and exited without paying. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There was one vehicle burglary during the past week.
 

  • 100 block of Wellington Avenue—a wheel lock was taken from a 2015 Infiniti Q50. The rear driver’s side window was shattered. Occurred on 09-03-24 between 6:29 a.m. and 6:33 a.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned below in the Stolen Vehicles section. **Online report.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles 
 
There were ten stolen vehicles and one attempted stolen vehicle theft during the past week. Five vehicles were recovered.
 
  • 300 block of Lake Merced Boulevard—a theft of a 2023 Baodiao Boomvader motorcycle. Occurred on 09-03-24 between 12:15 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 09-06-24.
 
  • 300 block of Lake Merced Boulevard—a theft of a 2023 Yamaha MT03 motorcycle. Occurred on 09-03-24 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  
 
  • 500 block of Clarinada Avenue—a theft of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 09-03-24 and 6:45 a.m. on 09-04-24.
 
  • Belmar Avenue and Crestwood Drive—a theft of a 2008 Honda Civic. Occurred between 4:15 p.m. on 09-05-24 and 3:23 a.m. on 09-06-24. **Recovered by CA State University PD-San Francisco on 09-06-24.
 
  • 100 block of West Moltke Street—a theft of a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Occurred on 09-06-24 between midnight and 3:43 a.m.
 
  • Unit block of Muirwood Drive—a theft of a 2013 Infiniti G37. Occurred between 4:30 p.m. on 09-06-24 and 6:07 a.m. on 09-07-24.
 
  • Unit block of Poncetta Drive—a theft of a 2019 Infiniti Q50. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 09-06-24 and 4:00 a.m. on 09-07-24. **Recovered by Oakland PD on 09-07-24.
  
  • 900 block of Saint Francis Boulevard—a theft of a 2005 GMC Safari. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 09-06-24 and 9:00 a.m. on 09-07-24.
 
  • 200 block of Shipley Avenue—a theft of a 2013 Toyota Camry. Occurred on 09-07-24 between 10:30 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 09-07-24.
 
  • Parking lot on the 7100 block of Mission Street—a theft of a 1998 Honda Civic. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 09-07-24 and 6:00 a.m. on 09-08-24. **Recovered by SFPD on 09-09-24.
 
  • 100 block of Wellington Avenue—an attempted theft of a 2015 Infiniti Q50. Occurred on 09-03-24 between 6:29 a.m. and 6:33 a.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Vehicle Burglaries section. **Online report.
 
 
Miscellaneous
 
  • There were 143 cases taken.
 
  • There were 10 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 3 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 8 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 2 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 6 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 6 narcotics-related cases taken.

Free Compost Giveaway Event
 
The City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host a free compost giveaway event at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (153 Lake Merced Boulevard) from Wednesday, October 2, through Thursday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five (5) 5-gallon buckets of compost per household. The event is weather permitting and will be canceled in case of rain. Daly City Police Department’s Community Police Academy
 
Join our Community Police Academy for a memorable and rewarding experience to learn about our processes, roles, and responsibilities of our staff, and gain skills you can use in everyday life. This event will be in a drive-through format for Daly City residents; proof of residency is required, such as a driver’s license and/or recent utility bill.
