On September 13th, 2024, at 7:48 PM, Middleton Police were dispatched to the area of the 8200 block of Greenway Blvd in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a suspect who was possibly intoxicated and had left the scene. Using information provided by the reporting party, a Middleton officer was able to locate the suspect and contacted him.
The driver was identified as Daniel S. Behrend, age 51, of Middleton. The officer noted behavior exhibited by Behrend that led to the officer to believe that Behrend was under the influence of an impairing drug.
Following field sobriety testing, Behrend was arrested for 5th offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), a felony. A blood search warrant was required and results are pending.
Behrend was booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI.
