Narcotics Search Warrant Leads to Multiple Arrests
Officers with the Marion Police Department, in conjunction with the McDowell Drug Enforcement, executed a narcotics search warrant at 940 State Street Extension in Marion. The late night operation, which utilized the Special Response Teams from the Marion Police Department and McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, yielded trafficking levels Methamphetamine and possession levels of Marijuana. The tenants, Rebecca Jean Chapman and Vandon Ray Heath were the only occupants in the residence, which was being utilized as a location to purchase and use illegal narcotics.
This operation was yet another example of the dedication of each member of the Drug Task Force Unit. This unit is made up of the Marion Police Department, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigations. With each arrest they are continuing to send a message to those who want to sell illegal narcotics. We would like to thank them for their continued hard work.

Please turn in your local drug dealer by partnering with the Marion Police Department and make us aware of anything similar that could be taking place in your community. A simple phone call or short meeting can be the beginning of solving issues related to the distribution of illegal narcotics in your community.

Maintaining a dwelling for the storage and sell of controlled substances (1) Count
Rebecca Chapman was transported to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
Vandon Ray Heath, 51
Manufacture, Sale, or Deliver controlled substances within 1000 feet of School Property (1) Count
Trafficking Methamphetamine (1) Count
Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine (1) Count
Felony Possession of Methamphetamine (1) Count
Maintaining a dwelling for the storage and sell of controlled substances (1) Count
Vandon Heath was transported to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.
