Special Weather Statement until 07:00AM Tuesday
A strengthening storm system moves over the Pribilof Islands from Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. While the front will bring southeasterly winds and rain to the eastern Aleutians and Alaska Peninsula beginning Monday afternoon, the strongest winds and highest seas will occur as winds wrap back around the low Tuesday morning. Southwesterly to westerly wind gusts of 55 to 65 mph and wave heights of 15 to 25 ft are expected for the eastern Aleutians, Alaska Peninsula, and Bering side coastal waters for much of tomorrow. Wind gusts could approach 70 mph around Cold Bay and Unimak Island Wednesday afternoon and evening. Wave heights building to 15 ft are expected for the outer half of Unalaska Bay late Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night.
