ESCONDIDO, California – A 58-year-old Escondido man was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Broadway. The driver then fled the scene.
            The crash occurred at 6:09 a.m. as the victim was legally walking west across the street. He was struck by a vehicle turning right onto northbound Broadway.
            A witness account and subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle is a white off-road style SUV with a large spare tire and red “high lift” style jack affixed to the back. It was last seen traveling north on Broadway and then east on Lincoln Avenue.
            The victim, Miguel Leonides Garcia, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Peatón muere en atropello y fuga en la madrugada
 
ESCONDIDO, California – Un hombre de 58 años de Escondido murió el martes por la mañana después de ser atropellado por un vehículo en la intersección de Mission Avenue y Broadway. Luego, el conductor huyó de la escena.
El accidente ocurrió a las 6:09 a.m. cuando la víctima caminaba legalmente hacia el oeste cruzando la calle. Fue atropellado por un vehículo que giraba a la derecha en Broadway en dirección norte.
El relato de un testigo y la investigación posterior revelaron que el vehículo es un SUV blanco de estilo todoterreno con una gran llanta de repuesto y un gato rojo de estilo "high lift" colocado en la parte trasera. Fue visto por última vez viajando hacia el norte por Broadway y luego hacia el este por Lincoln Avenue.
La víctima, Miguel Leonides García, fue llevada a un hospital del área donde fue declarado fallecido.
