On Monday, 9/16/24 at approximately 9:53pm, Petaluma Police Officers were dispatched to a report of two men fighting on Hopper St. Prior to Officer arrival, the suspect, later identified as Javier Ortega (48, Petaluma) stabbed the victim multiple times. Witnesses on scene reported to that Ortega attempted to discard the knife, which was later located at the front of the Mary Issak Center. The victim was transported to a hospital to undergo emergency surgery due to the severity of his wounds. Officers arrested Ortega for assault with a deadly weapon, as well as outstanding warrants. As of 6:50am today, 9/17/24,  the victim is in stable condition.
