Newark, CA – The City of Newark is excited to host the 69th Annual Newark Days Parade and the Newark Mile race on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Newark Days is a four-day festival held every September to commemorate the birthday of the City of Newark. The festival features a variety of attractions under this year’s theme, “Let the Games Begin”. Festivities include the parade, a carnival, car show, arts & crafts trade fair, community information fair, and stage performances.

This event will require several road closures throughout Newark to accommodate festivities and ensure the safety of participants and spectators.

Road Closures:
To facilitate the parade and race, the following road closures will be in effect from approximately 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday September 21, 2024:

• Newark Blvd. in both directions from Civic Terrace to Cedar Blvd.
• Thornton Ave. in both directions from Cherry St. to Mayhews Landing Dr.
• Cedar Blvd. in both directions from Newark Blvd. to Edgewater Dr.
• Mayhews Landing Rd. in both directions from Fair Ave. to Newark Blvd.
• Lake Blvd. from Parkshore Dr. to Cedar Blvd.
• Chapman Dr. from Blackburn Dr. to Cedar Blvd.

Please be advised that all intersections along the parade route will be closed to through traffic. Residents, visitors, and parade-goers are encouraged to arrive early and anticipate traffic delays in the surrounding areas.

Parking Information:
“No Parking” signs will be posted along the parade route at least 72 hours in advance. Vehicles parked in these areas before the event will be towed at the owner’s expense. Additionally, signs will be placed in the center medians along the route to remind attendees to stay off the medians. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the parade from the sidewalks to keep roadways and medians clear.

City Services:
During the road closures, City Hall and the Police Department will remain accessible via Civic Terrace Drive (from Cedar Blvd) westbound towards City Hall.
