Grand Avenue (State Highway Rt 93) is scheduled for roadwork starting this evening. The project is part of the NJ Department of Transportation's Pavement Preservation Project that has been mentioned in previous Nixle messages. Weather permitting, the project will take place tonight, Friday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday between the hours of 8pm and 6am. The roadwork will take place along the entire length of Grand Avenue from Englewood to Ridgefield, so there will be times when Leonia is not affected.

Tonight's work will include preparation of the center rumble strip for the application of a slurry seal. The slurry seal application and line striping will take place starting tomorrow. There is no milling and paving with this project and the slurry seal should be ready for traffic approximately 20 minutes after the application. One lane of alternating traffic is planned during the roadwork, however road closures may be necessary. 

Please avoid the area if possible and use Broad Avenue as an alternate route. NJ State Police and Leonia Police will be working with  the construction company and will be able to assist Grand Avenue residents with access to their homes.
