On September 10, 2024, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives located and arrested a Los Angeles County resident suspected of committing two Commercial Burglaries, which occurred in the Cities of Thousand Oaks and Camarillo on August 23, 2024. Subsequently, a second suspect was also identified and arrested at his home in Los Angeles County on September 18, 2024. During the early morning hours of August 23, 2024, two pharmacies were burglarized in the Cities of Camarillo and Thousand Oaks. Surveillance video captured masked suspects forcing entry into the businesses and ultimately fleeing with US currency and pharmaceutical controlled substances. Both burglaries were carried out in a similar manner and appeared to be committed by the same suspects. Through investigative resources, detectives with the East County Special Enforcement Unit identified two of the suspects as (S) Mystic Winston and (S) Romel Strachan, both residents of Los Angeles County. On September 10, 2024, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives located and arrested Winston in the City of Compton. A search of Winston’s vehicle revealed multiple items of evidence connecting him to the Ventura County burglaries. On September 18, 2024, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office detectives located Strachan at his residence in the City of Carson. During the execution of the residential search warrant, Strachan fled his residence and was captured after a short foot pursuit. Evidence connecting him to the Ventura County burglaries was also located during a search of his residence. Both Winston and Strachan were booked into Ventura County Jail on felony burglary charges, with a bail amount of $200,000. Winston remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on September 23, 2024, at 1:30pm. Strachan is set to be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on September 20, 2024, at 1:30pm. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens to be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious people and vehicles by promptly calling 911 or our non-emergency line (805) 654-9511. If you see something, say something. |
