On 09/15/2024 during the early morning hours, deputies from the Headquarters Station were dispatched to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the unincorporated area of Oxnard known as El Rio area.  Upon arrival, deputies learned the victim sustained a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for medical care. The incident is believed to be isolated and there is no information to suggest an ongoing threat to the general public.
 
Investigators are attempting to identify the suspect(s) who committed the shooting and the location where the shooting occurred. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is committed to seeking justice for the victims and their families of gun violence.  Investigators are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the suspect(s) and the location where the crime occurred.
