Gilroy Police Arrest Suspect in Robbery Investigation
On August 27, 2024, at approximately 8:00 P.M. Gilroy police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a robbery and carjacking that occurred in 7400 block of Railroad Street. Officers learned that the victim was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by multiple suspects, including at least one suspect armed with a firearm. The suspects took the victim’s personal property and stole his vehicle. The vehicle was located a short time later abandoned on Walnut Lane. The suspects were not located.
During the investigation, Gilroy Detectives were able to identify a suspect involved in the crime. On September 18, 2024, members of the Gilroy/Morgan Hill SWAT team served a search warrant at a residence in the 7500 block of Alexander Street in Gilroy. A 16-year-old male was arrested in connection to the robbery and carjacking. He was transported and booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Detention Center.
