Narrative: | |||||
On 09/18/2024, at approximately 1300 hours, Moorpark Investigations, Moorpark Patrol, Thousand Oaks Detectives, and the Sheriff’s Civil Unit conducted a joint search warrant / eviction operation in the 4700 block of South Moorpark Avenue. During the service of the search warrant, the occupants of the residence refused to comply with orders to open the door and exit the residence. Detectives used a battering ram to force the residence door open and to gain entry. (S) Edwige Mondesir Sr. charged at deputies while holding a metal object over his head as they entered the residence. Edwige Sr. was struck with a less lethal projectile, which caused him to retreat into a rear room inside the residence. (S) Edwige Mondesir Jr. battered a detective and was arrested after a brief struggle. (S) Maritza Miranda was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Edwige Sr. barricaded himself in a rear room of the residence and refused to comply with orders to exit the room. Edwige Sr. began live streaming the incident on a social media platform and made statements which indicated he was not going to comply orders given by detectives. The Sheriff’s Tactical Negotiations Unit made numerous attempts to communicate with Edwige Sr. and he continually hung up the phone or refused to answer calls. Edwige Sr. eventually surrendered after members of Sheriff’s SWAT introduced chemical agents into the room to gain his compliance. Edwige Sr. was arrested for 245(c) PC, 273(a)a PC, and a felony warrant. Edwige Jr. was arrested for 69 PC, 243(c)(2) PC, and a misdemeanor warrant. Miranda was arrested for 166(a)(4) PC, 182(a)(1) PC, 632(a) PC, and a misdemeanor warrant. All three suspects were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura and are awaiting court appearances. |
