One Arrested for Possession of Loaded Firearm + Resisting Arrest
Yesterday (9/19), around 8:49PM, a Novato Police Detective was assisting with Patrol duties, when he observed a man commit an unsafe pedestrian violation. The Detective contacted the man, who identified himself as 23-year-old, Tariq Wade.
After further investigation, the Detective felt a firearm in Wade's backpack. Wade attempted to forcibly remove the backpack from the Detective before fleeing South on Nave Dr. A foot chase began near the train tracks east of Hamilton Marketplace, where visual of Wade was lost, however he was located hiding in a dumpster near Peet's Coffee shortly after. Wade was safely arrested without further incident and later booked for several charges, included being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of cannabis for sale and resisting an officer. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist as well.
