Wilmington Police Department to participate in National Faith and Blue Weekend:
The Wilmington Police Department will again be participating in National Faith and Blue Weekend, which will be celebrated this year from October 11-14.
Throughout the weekend, Wilmington Police officers will be partnering with faith communities throughout the City – with events in each of our patrol sectors – through joining congregations for faith services and meeting and interacting with members of various faith communities.
National Faith & Blue Weekend is a collaborative initiative that builds bridges and breaks down biases through activities and outreach amongst law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve. The annual program is an expansion of the One Congregation One Precinct initiative (OneCOP), a program of MovementForward, Inc. which is a bridge-building, solutions-focused human and civil rights organization based in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Our police officers already have strong relationships with faith leaders and communities throughout Wilmington, and this is a great way to build on these connections,” said Chief Wilfredo Campos. “We look forward to participating in this national initiative for the third time, and to spending time with members of these faith communities.”
The Wilmington Police Department will be working with Trinity Episcopal Parish, St. Paul Church, Manna Christian Fellowship, New Calvary Baptist Church and Praying Ground Community Church for meet-and-greet events and other gatherings.
