Corona Woman Arrested on Several Charges after Theft at Local Cemetary

SUMMARY: On September 13, 2024, at approximately 7:57 p.m., Deputy Foy from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station was dispatched to a reported grand theft that occurred at the Green Acres Mortuary in the city of Bloomington. The subsequent investigation determined that the victim was visiting a gravesite at the location when an unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole her purse. The suspect took the victim’s credit cards and made multiple fraudulent purchases in the Fontana area before the victim was able to deactivate the stolen credit cards.
On September 15, 2024, detectives from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station assumed the investigation and were able to identify the suspect as Emily Hernandez, a 32-year-old resident of Corona, and obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez. Hernandez was found to be on felony probation in Riverside County. On September 17, 2024, Fontana Sheriff’s Station detectives arrested Hernandez in the city of Corona.
The vehicle Hernandez was driving, a 2020 Jaguar F-Pace, was found to be an unreported stolen vehicle. Detectives determined Hernandez had purchased the vehicle on September 9, 2024, from a car dealership in Ontario, using identity theft. Detectives learned Hernandez was also responsible for a similar theft from the Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary in the city of Loma Linda, on September 5, 2024.
Hernandez was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for numerous felony charges.
