INCIDENT: Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material / Felon in Possession of a Firearm

LOCATION: 18400 Block of Valley Blvd., Bloomington

SUSPECT(S): Gordon Radel, 41-year-old resident of Bloomington

SUMMARY: In July 2024, investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Fontana Station received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding a subject in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). During the subsequent investigation, investigators learned that detectives from the Fontana Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Child Taskforce were also investigating the same suspect. Both investigations identified the suspect as Gordon Radel, a 41-year-old resident of Bloomington. Radel was found to be a registered sex offender, pursuant to Penal Code Section 290, for a previous felony conviction related to the possession of CSAM. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department and the Fontana Police Department authored numerous search warrants related to this investigation. As a result of the warrants, a large quantity of photos and videos containing CSAM were located and seized as evidence.  

On August 14, 2024, detectives from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station and the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division arrested Radel without incident, pursuant to an arrest warrant that had been issued in this case. Simultaneously during Radel’s arrest, detectives from the Fontana Police Department served a search warrant at Radel’s residence in the city of Rialto, where additional evidence was located. Sheriff’s detectives then served an additional search warrant in the 18400 block of Valley Boulevard in Bloomington, where a firearm was recovered. Radel was booked at the West Valley Detention Center. 

On August 16, 2024, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges of PC 311.11(b)-Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material with a prior conviction, PC 311.11(c)(1)-Possession of over 600 images containing Child Sexual Abuse Material, PC 311.11(c)(2)-Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material portraying sexual sadism, and PC 29800(a)-Felon in possession of a firearm. Radel was later released from custody after posting $100,000 bail.
