Police Investigating Second Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Accident in Fairfield

Yesterday evening, at around 7:18 pm, a pregnant woman was crossing East Tabor Avenue near Manor Avenue, when she was struck by a vehicle. The car narrowly missed striking the stroller the woman was pushing with her toddler inside.

The Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit immediately responded and took over the collision investigation. The driver remained on scene and has been cooperative with police.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment where she remains in critical condition. Unfortunately, her unborn child did not survive. Her toddler sustained minor injuries and is receiving care.

The woman has been identified and investigators are working to notify family.

At this time, it is not believed impaired driving was a contributing factor, but the investigation remains active and ongoing. As such, further details will not be released at this time.

This was the first of two such incidents to occur in the City of Fairfield within a 24 hour time span.
