Flood Warning until 05:00AM Thursday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following counties, Bland, Grayson, Smyth and Tazewell.

* WHEN...Until 500 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 158 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Clinch River, Big Creek, Blue Spring Creek, Bluestone River, Burkes Garden Creek, Beaver Creek, Campbell Creek, Big Horse Creek and Beech Fork. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marion, Richlands, Tazewell, Saltville, Chilhowie, Cedar Bluff and Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
