Incident: Intoxicated Driver Arrested After Colliding with Several Vehicles and Houses
Occurred Date : September 25th, 2024
Occurred Time: 7:57 PM
Location: 12th Street/ Grossland Way, Petaluma
Suspect: Manuel Ramirez-Pablo (47-year-old Petaluma resident)
On 09/25/2024 at approximately 7:57 PM, the Petaluma Police Department Dispatch Center began receiving 911 calls stating that a truck had collided with a parked vehicle. It quickly escalated as the callers reported the truck had collided with additional vehicles and hit multiple houses. The vehicle was seen fleeing from each collision.
Petaluma officers responded quickly to the scene and discovered a white Dodge pickup truck wedged next to a residential fence line with major damage. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as Manuel Ramirez-Pablo and was passed out behind the wheel with the engine running and doors locked.
After several attempts to have Ramirez unlock the doors with no success, officers broke the passenger side window and detained Ramirez. Officers were then able to secure the vehicle. Ramirez displayed objective signs of heavy alcohol intoxication and was later determined to be driving under the influence after an evaluation.
During the investigation, it was determined Ramirez had collided with several different cars over at least three blocks, one of which was occupied by a mother and her infant child. The child was evaluated by members of the Petaluma Fire Department as a precaution and was determined to be unharmed.
During his erratic driving, he collided with numerous homes, causing substantial damage. Numerous area residents reported that Ramirez’s driving was erratic and reckless. At one point, he was seen crashing his truck into the same house twice.
No one was injured during the incident and Ramirez was placed under arrested for DUI and numerous counts of hit and run. Ramirez was believed to be driving while nearly three times the legal limit. He was later booked at the Sonoma County Jail and his vehicle was impounded.
