El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from September 15th – September 21st.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from September 15th to September 21st.
 
September 15th
 Warrant Arrest - 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
 At 7:40 PM, an officer contacted a subject and discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
Arson - 11425 San Pablo Ave. (American Home Furnishing):
 At 12:51 AM, an officer reports a suspect started a bush on fire in the back of the business. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

September 16th
Commercial Burglary – 10175 San Pablo Ave (10 Minute Speed Oil Change):
 At 3:00 AM, two suspects forced entry into the business and stole merchandise. 
 
Vandalism – 7022 Stockton Ave. (7-Eleven):
 At 6:50 PM, two suspects got into a verbal argument with the store clerk.  During the argument, the suspects damaged property inside the store.  The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
 
September 17th
Stolen Vehicle – Manila Ave. / Richmond St.
At 8:44 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen sometime last.

Grand Theft – 9800 San Pablo Ave. (Wells Fargo):
At 4:12 PM, a victim reports that while they were away from their unlocked vehicle, a suspect entered their car and stole property from within.

Battery – 11785 San Pablo Ave. (Launderland):
At 5:59 PM, officers were dispatched to a Battery inside the business. Suspect had fled prior to police arrival.

Arson – 724 Kearney St. (Fairmount Elementary School):
At 10:46 PM, officers were dispatched to a dumpster fire.  The suspect fled prior to the officers’ arrival.

Drunk in Public – 600 Block of Lexington Ave.
At 2:16 AM, officers were dispatched to a report of a subject prowling in the area. Officers located and found the subject who was so intoxicated they did not know where they lived. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

September 18th
Vandalism – 11785 San Pablo Ave. (Launderland):
At 9:53 AM, the owner of the business reports a suspect shattered the glass door to the business.

Vandalism – 11940 San Pablo Ave. (Tub Town):
At 3:47 AM, officers were dispatched to an alarm activation of shattered glass.  Upon arrival, officers found the front door to the business shattered.  The suspect did not make entry into the business but fled prior to police arrival.

Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 12:32 PM, a store employee confronted two suspects who stole items from the store.  The suspects threatened to shoot the store employee however, no weapon was seen.  The suspects fled the parking lot prior to police arrival.

Sexual Battery – 6120 Potrero Ave. (Los Moles):
At 2:17 PM, a victim reports that an employee inappropriately touched them three months ago.

September 19th 
Stolen Vehicle – 700 block of Kearney St.
At 12:41 PM, a suspect stole the victims vehicle.  

Petty Theft – 700 block of Colusa Ave.
At 2:38 PM, the victim reports that their license plate was stolen from their vehicle.

Auto Burglary - 5030 El Cerrito Plaza (Jamba Juice):
At 3:18 PM, the victim reports that their locked vehicle was broken into and miscellaneous items taken.

Vandalism – 400 block of Balra Dr.
At 3:24 PM, the victim reports that the sunroof to their vehicle was shattered.

Residential Burglary – 900 block of Elm St.
At 5:43 PM, officers were dispatched to a residential burglary.  Officers arrived on scene and found the suspect stole several items from the residence. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
 
September 20th
Residential Burglary – 6800 block of Blake St.
At 7:44 AM, a suspect broke into the victim’s residence and stole property. 

Grand Theft – 6300 block of Jordan Ave. 
At 11:08 AM, officers report that a suspect stole copper wires from an AT&T pole. 

Warrant Arrest / Possess Controlled Substances for Sales – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway Parking Lot): 
At 2:03 PM, officers contacted and arrested a suspect who had a warrant for their arrest.  During the search, officers located contraband that showed the suspect was illegally selling controlled substances. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

September 21st
Arrest for Stolen Vehicle – Potrero Ave. / San Pablo Ave.
At 7:03 AM, an officer located an occupied stolen vehicle in the area. A traffic enforcement stop was conducted, and the suspect was arrested. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later released due to the way the car had been stolen. Further investigation is required. The vehicle was released on scene and the registered owner was contacted.

Vandalism – 11375 San Pablo Ave. (Ace Tattoo):
Between 6:00 PM on 09/20/2024 and 12:00 PM on 09/21/2024, the suspect used an unknown object to damage the security screen.

Drunk in Public - 400 Block of Colusa Ave.
At 7:46 PM, officers responded to the area for a report of a person down. Officers contacted the subject and discovered the subject was intoxicated. The subject was placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
