Flood Warning until 08:45PM Friday
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, including the following counties, Bland, Giles and Tazewell and southeast West Virginia, including the following county, Mercer.
* WHEN...Until 845 PM EDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 856 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated bands of moderate to heavy rain passing over the warned area. Flooding is ongoing in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen since early this morning. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area as rainfall intensifies overnight as the storm approaches. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
