104 Drivers Cited During Pedestrian Safety Operation
Redwood City, California. – The Redwood City Police Department conducted a joint Pedestrian Safety Operation with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office on 9/25/2024.
Combined, both agencies issued a total of 104 citations, to include 83 citations for 21950(a) CVC: (Driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk), 3 citations for 21951(a) CVC (passing a vehicle stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk), 6 citations for 12500(a) CVC: (being an unlicensed driver), 3 citations for 22350 CVC (Unsafe Speed), 3 citations for 23123.5(a) (using a cellphone while driving, as well as 6 other citations for various violations.
The operation took place at the intersection of El Camino Real and Finger St in Redwood City, and on El Camino Real and Oak St in San Carlos, from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
