Flood Warning until 10:00PM Sunday

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Georgia... Flint River near Griffin affecting Fayette and Spalding Counties. For the Flint River Basin...including Lovejoy, Peachtree City, Fayetteville, Americus, Peachtree City, Woolsey, Sharpsburg, Peachtree City, Peachtree City, Senoia, Griffin, Griffin, Orchard Hill, Thomaston, Molena, Carsonville, Montezuma, Byromville... Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Flint River near Griffin.

* WHEN...From Friday morning to late Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Minor flooding expands further into the woodlands...fields and pasture upstream and downstream from the gage on Georgia Highway 16 or Newnan Road. The backyards of homes at the end of Landing Way upstream from the bridge will be flooded with around 3 feet of water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:45 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 6.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow morning to a crest of 15.6 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon. - Flood stage is 12.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.6 feet on 03/09/1998. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
