McDowell County Emergency Agencies Prioritize Life Safety Missions Due to Severe Weather Conditions
McDowell County, NC — Due to the current hazardous weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds, McDowell County Emergency Agencies, including Fire/Rescue, and EMS, will only be responding to life safety missions until further notice. Any routine responses will be temporarily suspended until weather conditions improve and it is safe to proceed. There are hundreds of trees down, as well as powerlines on roadways throughout the county creating hazardous road conditions.
The safety of our first responders and the public is our top priority. Current weather conditions have created an environment that is too dangerous for non-emergency responses. However, rest assured that help will be on the way as soon as conditions allow for safe operations.
We urge residents to stay informed of weather updates and take necessary precautions. Please understand that our teams are ready to assist as soon as it is safe to do so.
