Hoboken Police Department swears in five new officers
The Hoboken Police Department swore in five new Police Officers during a ceremony at City Hall on Sept. 26, 2024.
The new officers, who recently graduated from the Passaic County Police Academy, include Brian Kim, Michael Chen, Trevor Thomas, Brandon Cappelluti, and Leroy Sherrill.
“We welcome these five new officers and thank them for the pledge they are making today, to protect and serve the Hoboken community with integrity,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “Each one of them will bring their own skills and perspectives to our already exemplary force, and I look forward to working with them as they make their\ mark on our city.”
“Becoming a police officer means dedicating oneself to the community, and to keeping that community safe,” said Public Safety Director Ken Ferrante. “I thank these five new officers for making that commitment today, and for what I know will be successful careers in law enforcement, here in Hoboken.”
“This group is a tremendous addition to our team, and they will further reinforce the police department’s commitment to improving public safety and strengthening the bond with the Hoboken community that we are proud to protect and serve,” said Police Chief Steven Aguiar.
The new officers will take part in four months of field training before being assigned to the Hoboken Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Bureau which responds to approximately 100,000 calls a year.
