As the storm passes, please do not drive on the highway unless you are seeking higher ground. Life threatning flash flooding continues across McDowell County with major damage being reported including multiple communities that are isolated due to bridge failures. I-40 Old Fort Mountain is closed due to a landslide.
Stay off the highways and allow emergency personnel the ability to respond to these emergencies.
