On September 26, 2024, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Fremont Police received several 911 calls reporting shots fired around the 40400 block of Grimmer Boulevard. Fremont Police Officers arrived on scene and located a male suffering from gunshot wounds down on the sidewalk. Officers attempted life-saving measures on the injured male, but he was soon pronounced deceased at the scene.
Fremont Police personnel learned the identity of the suspect, Abbasin Hoshmand (47 years old, resident of Fremont), and immediately began pursuing investigative leads to locate Hoshmand. Over the next several hours, detectives and officers followed numerous leads, which led to other cities within the Bay Area.
Today, in the early morning hours, Fremont Police was notified by the Pleasanton Police Department that Hoshmand was at their police department to turn himself in. Pleasanton Police Officers took Hoshmand into custody, and he was turned over to Fremont PD. Hoshmand was arrested by Fremont PD for Penal Code 187(a) – Murder.
The Fremont Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit took over the homicide investigation. We are still actively investigating this crime, including determining the motive. The case will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office next week.
