In response to the widespread damage caused by Hurricane Helene, Henderson County officials have declared a mandatory countywide curfew to ensure public safety and expedite recovery efforts. The curfew will be in effect from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM daily until conditions improve. The curfew is an addendum to the State of Emergency already in effect.
The decision comes as emergency responders work to clear debris, restore power, and assess infrastructure damage throughout the county. The curfew is aimed at preventing accidents, protecting residents, and allowing first responders the space to operate efficiently.
County Manager John Mitchell emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public: “The damage from Hurricane Helene is significant, and our teams are working around the clock to restore essential services. We ask that residents abide by the curfew to help keep everyone safe and allow recovery operations to proceed as quickly as possible.”
