* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following counties, Grayson and Smyth.

* WHEN...Until 900 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 847 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 6 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Beaverdam Creek, Big Horse Creek, Bridle Creek, Campbell Creek, Comers Creek, Brush Creek, Beaver Creek, Bull Run, Bear Branch, Chestnut Creek and Blue Spring Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Galax, Marion, Saltville, Chilhowie, Independence, Fries and Sugar Grove. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
