URGENT WATER CONSERVATION EMERGENCY!!

Due to the impacts of Hurricane Helene, the City of Marion’s water intakes are without power or not producing water. The City is working with Duke Energy to restore power to the Buck Creek water intake,
but that intake may remain without power for an extended period of time.

Without power restoration, the City’s water supply will be depleted around 12:00 noon tomorrow, Sunday, September 29.

It is urgent that all City of Marion and McDowell County water customers conserve water to the greatest possible degree in order to extend the City and County water supplies. The washing of cars, watering of lawns, operation of laundromats and all other non-essential uses of water are prohibited until water conditions improve.
Updates will be provided as the situation changes.
