Culver City Police Department
PRESS RELEASE
Jason Sims, Chief of Police

Fatal Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Traffic Collision

Report Number: 24-5117

On Monday, September 30, 2024, at 4:26 pm, Culver City police responded to National Boulevard and Wesley Street regarding a major-injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a male adult pedestrian. Culver City Fire Department personnel rendered medical aid and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision.

Culver City Police Traffic Investigators and Forensics responded to investigate the collision. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Initial findings indicate that the driver was traveling on National Boulevard when the pedestrian was struck in the roadway. While the cause of the collision is still under investigation, impairment does not appear to have been a factor. The pedestrian's identity will not be released at this time, pending notification to the next of kin.

The collision required the temporary closure of National Boulevard from Wesley Street to Eastham Drive to process the scene and collect evidence. Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have been in the area with a vehicle that could have captured video of the collision is encouraged to contact Sergeant Houck at (310) 253-6260 or email [email protected].

For media inquiries regarding this incident, please contact the Culver City Police Department Public Information Officer, Jennifer Atenza, at (310) 253- 6120 or email [email protected].
