VICTIM(S): Confidential Business Owners
SUMMARY: On September 1, 2024, at 5:30 a.m., Fontana Station deputies began an investigation involving an afterhours burglary of a commercial business in the 11300 block of Cedar Avenue in Bloomington. The suspect(s) forced entry into the business by forcing open the metal security screen and shattering the front glass door. Deputies reviewed surveillance footage, which revealed two suspects entered the business and stole lottery tickets, alcohol, and cigarettes, then fled in a dark gray Tesla before deputies' arrival.
Following the investigation, Fontana Station deputies responded to at least two other burglaries in Bloomington involving the same suspects and vehicle. During the burglary series, the suspects stole large quantities of lottery tickets, high-end alcohol, US currency, ATM machines, and cash registers. Through further investigation, Fontana Station investigators developed leads that identified Marvin Tyrone Denson and Justice Clayton, both residents of Los Angeles, as the suspects involved in the burglary series. As Fontana Station investigators were investigating the series of burglaries, they learned Denson and Clayton were involved in numerous additional burglaries in the San Bernardino County communities of Victor Valley, Chino Hills, Rancho Cucamonga, Highland, Colton, and Ontario along with various communities in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties. Fontana Station investigators subsequently worked closely with several outside law enforcement agencies whose jurisdictions were believed to be impacted by similar burglary incidents.
Fontana Station investigators obtained arrest warrants for Denson and Clayton and linked them to two residences in Los Angeles and one in Victorville. On Monday, September 30, 2024, members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED), Sheriff's Gang Unit, Fontana Station Detectives, and members of the Fontana Station Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) served the three search warrants at the residences in Los Angeles and San Bernardino County, simultaneously without incident. The search warrants led to the discovery of numerous license plates, reciprocating saws, sledgehammers, and pry tools suspected to have been used in the commission of the crimes, large quantities of US currency, two semi-automatic rifles, of which one was reported stolen from Victorville, an AR15 rifle, a 9mm handgun, and suspected stolen lottery tickets, high-end alcohol and cigarettes, a money counting machine, and the Tesla used in the crimes. During the service of the warrants, Denson and Clayton were arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC459 Burglary, PC182(a)(1) Conspiracy, and PC12022.1 Commit Felony while on Bail.
Investigators believe Denson and Clayton are responsible for over 30 commercial burglaries in San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Riverside Counties.
