LOCATION: 15000 block of San Bernardino Avenue, Unincorporated Fontana

Confidential - 34-year-old Male
SUSPECT: Carlos Martinez Hernandez, a 42-year-old Male Resident of Fontana
SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at about 1:07 a.m., the San Bernardino County Fire Department requested Fontana Station deputies assist them with an injured 70-year-old female in the 15000 block of San Bernardino Avenue, unincorporated Fontana. Initial information indicated the female was either struck or fell out of a wheelchair and was injured.
At about 1:34 a.m., while deputies were on scene investigating the above incident, Carlos Martinez Hernandez, a 42-year-old male resident of Fontana, suddenly, and without provocation, struck a male victim in the face with a glass beer bottle. Deputies immediately intervened and attempted to arrest Martinez Hernandez, who swung a glass shard at, grabbed, and struggled with a deputy. Martinez Hernandez was detained without further incident and was uninjured. No deputies were injured during the incident and evidence corroborating both assaults was located.
The male victim of the assault with the bottle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The initial injured female was transported to a local hospital by family members for minor injuries. Martinez Hernandez was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center for assault with a weapon.
