Press Release - Serial Robbery Suspects Arrested

SUBJECT:  Serial Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested

LOCATION: 7-11, 895 5th Avenue, Redwood City, and 7-11, 400 El Camino Real, Redwood City

DATE/TIME: October 1, 2024, 12:56 a.m.

On October 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Redwood City Police Department officers were dispatched to the 7-11 at 5th Avenue and Bay Road on report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.  The victim described three suspects and advised they fled in a vehicle southbound on Bay Road.  One of the suspects brandished a revolver during the robbery. Responding officers from Redwood City and Atherton Police Departments were unable to locate the suspects or their vehicle.  RCPD dispatchers broadcasted an officer safety bulletin with the suspect and vehicle descriptions.

While officers were still investigating this robbery, RCPD dispatchers received a report of a second robbery which had just occurred at 1:20 a.m. at the 7-11 at 400 El Camino Real in Redwood City. The victim provided a description of three suspects, which matched the description from the earlier robbery.  Responding officers were again unable to locate the suspects.

A San Mateo Police Department dispatcher heard the earlier officer safety broadcast and searched available databases for similar crimes. The dispatcher located a bulletin for a robbery from Martinez PD from several days prior.  The suspect descriptions and modus operandi matched the Redwood City robberies.  The Martinez PD bulletin included a vehicle description and license plate number. The SMPD dispatcher entered the license plate from the bulletin into the Flock Automated License Plate Reader system and got a hit from the recently installed Redwood City ALPR system.  The dispatcher notified our dispatchers of the connection.

Redwood City officers continued their search for the suspects and their vehicle. At approximately 1:40 a.m. an officer spotted three subjects matching the suspects’ descriptions to the rear of Denny’s restaurant at Broadway and Woodside Road in Redwood City.  All three were wearing ski masks and moving towards the front of the restaurant, apparently about to commit another robbery.  Other officers began to respond to the area but the suspects saw police and fled on foot in different directions.

A perimeter was established and multiple allied law enforcement agencies responded to assist with the search.  One suspect was quickly caught and a firearm was recovered under a dumpster next to where he was taken into custody.  Shortly thereafter, a second suspect was taken into custody several blocks away.  Officers recovered a discarded firearm near where he was found. The two suspects were arrested and taken to RCPD for questioning.  Officers were unable to locate the third suspect or their vehicle at this time.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. an alert San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputy located the suspect vehicle in the 900 block of Charter St. in Redwood City.  Deputies and officers converged on the area and the third suspect was found hiding in the back of the vehicle.  He was arrested without incident and officers recovered a third firearm from inside the vehicle.

The suspects, identified as Jeremiah Patton (23) of San Francisco, Wesley Michael (30) of Vallejo, and Anderson David (19) of Fairfield, were booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility for armed robbery and various felony gun charges.

No victims, officers, or suspects were injured during the course of these events.

This was an outstanding example of interagency information sharing, use of technology, great work by public safety dispatchers, and great work by officers and deputies in the field, all coming together to get these dangerous criminals and firearms out of our communities.  The Redwood City Police Department would like to thank and recognize the work of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the San Mateo Police Department, the Atherton Police Department, and the Martinez Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
