Investigation of Vehicle Burglaries at a Local Hotel Lead to the Arrest of Multiple Suspects

DATE/TIME: October 1, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m.

INCIDENT: Search Warrant

LOCATION: 1000 block of Lillyhill Dr., Needles, CA

SUSPECT(S): Confidential Male Juvenile, 14-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
                        Confidential Male Juvenile, 15-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA. 
                        Confidential Male Juvenile, 16-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
                        Lucheeer McKenney, 37-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA

SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at approximately 8:04 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a vehicle burglary at the Days Inn Hotel in the city of Needles. Upon arrival, deputies learned two vehicles were burglarized and property was stolen out of both vehicles. Through investigation, deputies were able to identify three juvenile suspects involved in the crime.

On Sunday September 29, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department served a search warrant near the 1000 block of Lillyhill Drive in Needles, with the intent to locate stolen property and evidence linking the juveniles to the crime.  

As a result, two of the male juveniles, ages 14 and 16, were found to be in violation of  PC 459- Burglary, PC 487(A) - Grand Theft and PC 594(B)(1) - Vandalism over $400. The two juveniles were consequently arrested, issued a citation, and released to a resposible party with a future court date.

The juvenile's mother, later identified as Lucheer McKenny, was consequently arrested for California Penal Code sections PC 273A(a) – Child Neglect and PC 272(a)(1) –Contributing to the delinquency of a minor. McKenney was transported and booked into West Valley Detention Center with a 100,000.00 bond.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., a second search warrant was issued for the third juvenile suspect located at the 1000 block of Lillyhill. As a result, the 15-year-old male juvenile was arrested for PC 459- Burglary, PC 487(A) - Grand Theft and PC 594(B)(1) - Vandalism over $400 and was transported to the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for booking.
