Borough Council Meeting, Tuesdays 10/1 and 10/15
The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Highland Park will hold their regularly scheduled meeting pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). This meeting will be held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm.
 
Poetry Festival, Sunday 10/6
Join the Highland Park Art’s Commission at Pino’s Wine Cellar, 13 North 4th Avenue for a Poetry Festival from 4:00 pm- 9:00 pm. 
 
Bringing Government to your Community Forum, Tuesday 10/8
Join Mayor Foster, members of Borough Council, and representatives from the Highland Park Police Department, Fire Department, and First Aid Squad for a public safety-themed neighborhood forum on Tuesday, October 8 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. The meeting will take place on Merilind Avenue, next to the Irving School. 
 
Flu Shot Clinic, Wednesday 10/9
Flu season is coming. Get your flu shot at the Highland Park Community Center from 10-11 AM. For more information, please contact 732-819-0052.
 
Blood Drive, Tuesday 10/15
New Jersey Blood Services is sponsoring a Blood Drive from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue. As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, they will be dedicating all blood donations to those who have battled with breast cancer. Halloween Events in October, 10/27, 10/29 & 10/31
Once again, the Borough is offering a fun assortment of Halloween-themed events and activities for all to enjoy! 

  • Townwide House Decorating Contest (all month!): Enter your house in the annual Halloween decorating contest! Send an email to [email protected] by October 20 to register! 
  • Costume Parade and Festival (10/27): Join the Department of Community Services on Sunday, October 27 from 1-4 PM at the Community Center for their annual Halloween festival and parade. For more information, please contact 732-819-0052.
  • Trunk or Treat (10/29): The Highland Park Police Department will hold the annual Trunk or Treat on Tuesday, October 28 from 6-8 PM at the Community Center. For more information, or to register to decorate your vehicle, contact Officer Fitzgerald at [email protected].
  • Halloween on the Avenue (10/31): Main Street Highland Park has organized another fun Halloween night on Raritan Avenue. Businesses will offer candy to kids between 2:30-5:30 PM and there will be live music at the pavilion next to 212 Raritan Ave. And don't forget to enter your jack-o-lantern into their annual contest! 
Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22 & 10/29 and Wednesdays 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 & 10/30
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Zone 6/Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
 
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 10/10 &10/24 & Saturdays 10/12 & 10/26
The Highland Park Food Pantry distribution will take place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue. Visit the Borough website for additional dates. For more information, contact Nicole Huff at 732-819-0052.

Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and fall programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.
