Wilmington Police arrest two men in connection with 2019 Cold Case murder:
A Wilmington Police Cold Case Unit investigation has resulted in the arrest of two men in connection with a 2019 murder.
On November 25, 2019, at approximately 3:58 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2300 block of North Washington Street in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a 20-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition, and 19-year-old Rajion Dinkins, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries. The case was assigned to Detective Justin Kane of the Criminal Investigations Division.
The investigation continued, and the efforts of the Cold Case Unit – including Cold Case Investigator Steven Rizzo, and Detective Devon Jones – led to the identification of 21-year-old Akeem Henry, and 19-year-old Rahmere Black as suspects.
The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury on September 23, and an indictment was returned for Henry and Black. On September 24, Akeem Henry was taken into custody without incident. On September 26, Rahmere Black was taken into custody without incident.
Akeem Henry has been charged with the following offenses:
- Murder (First Degree)
- Attempted Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Three Counts
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
- Conspiracy (First Degree)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree) – Two Counts
- Illegal Gang Participation
Rahmere Black has been charged with the following offenses:
- Murder (First Degree)
- Attempted Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Three Counts
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
- Conspiracy (First Degree)
- Conspiracy (Second Degree) – Two Counts
- Illegal Gang Participation
