McDowell County FEMA Update: WATCH OUT FOR FEMA SCAMS!
Q: Is FEMA giving Hotel Vouchers in McDowell County as of 10/2/24?
A: No. FEMA has not activated the TSA program yet.
Q: Is FEMA in McDowell County?
A: While you may see FEMA teams in McDowell, these are currently search and rescue teams and other personnel. McDowell EOC has verified that we do not currently have FEMA inspectors in the field yet. However, there are some FEMA representatives in the area at shelters checking in with sheltered residents to assist with resources.
Important Information:
Some citizens have received a standard FEMA info sheet that a FEMA inspector would typically provide after an inspection. This is not a voucher.
FEMA is providing support and will be in the community soon. While we are working hard as a community to recover, we are still focused on life safety and locating missions.
How to Identify FEMA Inspectors:
If you see a FEMA inspector at your home, they will have an official FEMA badge with their name and photo. Please remember to verify their identity.
