PRESS RELEASE: NEWARK POLICE RESPOND TO FATAL TRAIN INCIDENT
Newark, California (Wednesday, October 2, 2024)
On Tuesday October 1, 2024, around 9:15AM, Newark Police Officers and Alameda County Fire Department personnel responded to a reported fatal train incident near the 6000 block of Baine Avenue. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a stopped Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) train and an individual suffering from severe injuries. Sadly, the individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. No injuries were reported among the passengers on the train.
The Newark Police Department assisted in responding to the incident, and the case is under investigation by Union Pacific Police Department which has jurisdiction over the trackway.
